Merle D. Griff, PhD, began her career working with children as a play therapist and developed therapeutic techniques that are used throughout the world. Dr. Griff is the author of LinkAges, a book based on original research on intergenerational programs, and numerous book chapters and journal articles on such topics as the role of grandparents in family systems and the development of adult day care in assisted living centers.

Dr. Griff brings not only her clinical expertise but also her personal experience as a mother, grandmother, and family caregiver for her mother and her husband to her best-selling new book about caregiving throughout the life cycle, Solace in the Storm.
She has been an invited presenter at both international and national conferences including the World Congress of Family and Child, the International Conference of Educateurs, and the Annual Conference of the National Council on Aging. She has been a delegate to the last two White House Conferences on Aging.
In 2017 Dr. Merle, as she is known to her followers, began hosting a live radio show, Caught Between Generations, interviewing guests such as Dr. Michael Breus, better known from the Dr. Oz Show as The Sleep Doctor, and addressing a wide range of subjects that affect the lives of individuals of all ages and walks of life.
Dr. Merle is now working on a new podcast, aptly named Family Caregiver Warriors, set to launch in November/December of 2023. The show will have a new format with 20 minute episodes that will be available on demand on all major podcast platforms.
Her blog is available on this website and is published and widely circulated on Forbes.com.
At some point in our lives, we will be called upon to serve as a caretaker—either for children, spouses, our parents, or even grandchildren. While we may begin this journey as an act of love, many will be challenged to find quick, easy, practical guidance to help survive the stress of caring for a loved one.
That’s where Dr. Merle Griff enters the picture. In her book, Solace in the Storm, Dr. Griff offers solutions to common problems faced by caregivers. Dr. Griff will help you fend off uninvited opinions from friends and family members, navigate complex healthcare systems, ask for help, and find time for yourself to process your emotions and recharge. In her book, she looks at caregiving at all stages of the human lifecycle, from childhood to older adulthood.
You can purchase Solace in the Storm from booksellers everywhere, including Amazon Books.
